It has got to be asserted, that no person could have predicted the 2012 Giants to win it all this season (this NY Giants podcast did have a good feeling). Though the squad got up to a great start, it was against lower tier teams. While acknowledging that going into training camp there's enough talent on this roster when it all without any question. Now whether or not that talent would transliterate into victories with something that would unfold with the season. After wounds took their toll early and frequently (the Giants lost 6 defensive backs) the probabilities that they’d had to win it all to address the hit. Though there was confidence the offense will score points, enormous questions remains in relation to whether the defense could play a significant level. Things certainly Slowly, the team got his bearings and commenced to restrict the great mistakes that cost them early in the season. Some asserted it had been a easy five game plan that help them, while others believed that it was a consequence of all of the injuries and

miscommunications

. Whatever the case may be , the defense got better by leaps and bounds. I should also mention the addition of Chase Blackburn made a Significant difference in the cohesiveness of the unit.

As well as Blackburn, the Giants also got strong play from Arron Ross and Michael Boley. Osi came back from injury, and grouped with Justin Tuck and JPP to give the Giants the most formidable defensive line in the NFL. Antrel Rolle altered nicely to his new job of covering the slot receiver on 3rd downs, and the old vet Deion Grant played solid football. Perry Fewell should get a lot of credit for closing the leaks in the defense as the season progressed, and catalyzing the changes that finally led on to the 2012 world championship.

Questions remain as this off-season approaches for the New York Giants. Several key players in the final year of their contracts had season-ending injuries this season, making the choice whether to re-sign them or not a difficult one for managing director Jerry Reese. Among those players are Jonathan Goff, and Terrel Thomas. These two players were anticipated to make significant contributions this year as full-time starters (Thomas was thought of as a borderline Pro Bowler) and now will likely be signed to short term, two year contracts after sustaining important wounds.
